Kate Doody of GBH Law has advised Paul Davey and Brian Smith, the shareholders of Audio Inventions Limited, a Sussex-based digital technology company, on a sale of a majority stake to Buffet Crampon Group, one of the world leaders in the wind instruments market.

Audio Inventions and Buffet Crampton have previously collaborated on the development of ClariMate, a highly innovative, digital accessory for use with clarinets that was launched at the end of 2022. The ClariMate is the world’s first accessory that can be rapidly fitted to a clarinet to create a hybrid acoustic/ digital instrument, and removed equally rapidly to revert to conventional playing. This deal will intensively develop this new application through new uses and ensure a broad market success.

Paul Davey, Managing Director and co-founder of Audio inventions, said: “We are delighted that Buffet Crampon has taken a significant shareholding in our company. It is a natural evolution of the partnership we have had for several years, and which has culminated in the launch of ClariMate.”

Co-founder and Technical Director Dr Brian Smith said: “We look forward to working even closer with the Buffet Crampon team to bring together the expertise of both companies to develop further innovative products in this new market.”

On working with GBH Law, Paul Davey commented: “GBH Law led us expertly through this transaction, the terms of which required careful negotiation and drafting, and a high level of attention to detail. It was a pleasure to work with Kate Doody on this deal.”
